Helping Those Affected by BC Wildfires

Helping Those Affected by BC Wildfires

The current wildfire situation in BC has had devastating effects on so many communities in UBC Local 1370’s geographical area.  Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes and communities leaving behind their possessions and livestock.  The direct impact on their livelihoods, families and communities is devastating.

The efforts, courage and commitment by firefighters and emergency responders has been tremendous.  Many resource and construction workers whose jobs have been impacted by the wildfires are volunteering with fire suppression efforts.  Many more are delivering emergency services and providing comfort and shelter to evacuees.

The Red Cross is providing much needed assistance to all those affected in Local 1370’s area and have made a special BC forest fire appeal for donations.  Donations can be made online by going to http://www.redcross.ca/how-we-help/current-emergency-responses/british-columbia-fires

The Carpenters' Regional Council (CRC) of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America is currently building the CRC's new website, which will include all the same functions and information for our members and other users. In the meantime, please continue to use bcrcc.ca. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
